Pete and His Dear Old Model "T"
by Peter Hugh Hanlon
I bought my dear old Model T
In the year of twenty four;
It's been around the world twenty times
And it will run some more.
Sometimes it's hard to start,
But I have never had my model T apart.
It wants new plugs, some tires, and a few repairs
And, then, I know the Model T
Will take me anywhere.
My Model T has been a good old car
That's what all the people say.
I give it lots of oil and gas
It fairly runs away, My Model T.
It's too awful bad that Ford couldn't make it talk
For when the poor old thing is gone
Then, Pete will have to walk.
Doc Early, he is my boy friend,
And a better boy you never see
And don't you know we enjoy to ride
Is that dear old Model T?
Of course, the people they all know
That Pete he lives alone
And no matter where I want to go
The Model T always brings me home.
And when I drive along the road
The people say I drive too slow
But there's where they make this mistake
I always burn the gasoline and I never burn the brake.
Of course, we know the Model T's
They can't go very fast, but when
Henry Ford makes his cars
He makes his cars to last.
Now the people can buy all their cars
No matter what the name may be
But, if I was going to buy another car
It would be a Model T.
Ford, He builds a good car now
And it's built all up to date
It's an awful easy riding car
And he calls it the new "V 8". |
