I hope that you will find this site informative and that it will help you find whatever information you are looking for. You will find that this home page will always be under construction and we will constantly be adding new family data. Be sure to let us know if you have any ideas for the home page. We would appreciate any feedback or suggestions concerning the contents of this site. As a way of introduction, I am John M. Mangus, a 3rd great grandson of Johann Conrad Menges, 1749 immigrant to Philadelphia. Born and raised in Washtenaw County, Michigan, I have been pursuing family history since a teenager and have taken many of my family lines back to Germany, Ireland and New England. These families entered this county through various ports, but mainly Philadelphia, New York and probably Plymouth, Massachusetts. All of my families, without exception, were a part of the great westward migration movement that took them through the State of New York and eventually to either Lenawee or Monroe County, Michigan. I was born on the "Old Gerganoff Place" at 1135 Jewell Road, York Township, Washtenaw County, Michigan, June 16, 1926. After a stint in the Navy at the Naval Air Station in Memphis, Tennessee, I entered MSU and graduated from the School of Business in 1951. Employed by the Michigan Department of Insurance as an insurance examiner for 18 years, 15 years in same position with the Ohio Department of Insurance, I retired in 1991. My summer months are spent in Upper Arlington (Columbus), Ohio and during the winter months you will find me at my condo on Lake Howard in Winter Haven, Florida. My internet address is jmangus61626@aol.com
